BREXIT: THE IMPACT IT WILL HAVE IN MIDDLESBROUGH

With the date for Brexit delayed until the 31st of October 2019, many leave voters on Teesside will be disappointed at how long it has taken for the United Kingdom to withdraw from the European Union.

Jade Smith, a passionate local Conservative activist, believes the ability to “trade freely” would bring more jobs to Middlesbrough, especially in the engineering industry.

In contrast, Labour Councillor Theodore Furness believes Brexit would have a “terrible” short-term impact, and says there is still a lot of uncertainty around what he describes as “a mess”.
