Following a 0-0 draw away at Stoke City last Saturday, Tony Pulis’ team will look for their first home victory in the league at home since September the 19th when they host Wigan Athletic this weekend.

Despite Boro’s frustrating form at the Riverside, they currently sit just two points off the top of the Championship table. However the league this season is incredibly competitive so it is key Boro win games keep up with the pack.

Wigan currently have problems of their own after being defeated in their last three Championship fixtures, the most recent a 2-1 defeat at home to Leeds United.
The two sides last met each other in 2015, with a first-half goal from Patrick Bamford being enough to see Boro to all three points. In total, the two teams have met fifteen team with this weekend’s home side unbeaten in the last seven meetings.

Tony Pulis will be boosted by the return of Daniel Ayala this weekend after the Spaniard completed his one-match suspension. However, both Sam McQueen and Ryan Shotton remain sidelined and will miss the game.

Paul Cook will be without captain Sam Morsy this Saturday, after the Egyptian international picked his fifth yellow card of the campaign in the defeat against Leeds. Nick Powell miss that game with a leg injury and will be assessed before kick-off. Whereas Chey Dunkley, Will Grigg, Michael Jacobs, Gavin Massey, Gary Roberts are all certain miss out through injury.
