NEW WEDDING BOUTIQUE FOR CURVY BRIDES

The Silver Sixpence owner, Wendy Paylor, shows off one of their beautiful gowns.

A new wedding boutique has opened in Brotton, aimed specifically at curvy brides.

Wendy Paylor and her daughter, Eleanor Paylor, decided to open The Silver Sixpence after finding a lack of bridal shops that catered for plus size women.

After Eleanor got engaged, her mum wanted to make the experience of finding a dress special and when they found very few dresses which were designed for curvy brides, they took action by opening their own shop.

Accessories and jewellery are also stocked to offer the complete works.

The owners have found that many curvy brides feel self-conscious shopping for their wedding dress.

Their aim is to offer plus size brides the chance to feel confident shopping for their wedding dress instead of worrying about the small sample sizes typical of many bridal boutiques.

They carry sizes 14 to 32 from Sheffield-based designer Callista Bride as well as a range of prom dresses.

Brotton High Street’s bright new shop has attracted a lot of customers already.

The grand opening saw huge success as one happy customer left with their dream dress.

The name comes from the traditional wedding poem, “Something Old, Something New”.

As the last line suggests that a bride put a silver sixpence in her shoe, the shop gives away a sixpence with every dress they sell.

Wendy and Eleanor Paylor offer customers and special experience as they look for the perfect dress.
