OXJAM MUSIC FESTIVAL RETURNS TO DARLINGTON

OXFAM in Darlington

Charity music festival OXJAM returns to the North East this weekend.

Forty  acts will take the stage across seven  venues in  Darlington  to raise money and awareness for Oxfam, as well as introducing new acts to festival goers.

Since 2014 the team behind Oxjam has been introducing the people of Darlington and surrounding areas to up and coming music acts. Covering genres from Folk to Hip Hip.

Over the last  four years OXJAM DARLO has raised over £20,000 for for Oxfam which provides help and support to some of the most desperate people on the planet.

There is a large number of Volunteers that ensure the festival runs smoothly, one of which is Darlington resident and Oxjam Marketing Co-ordiator

 Grace Lancaster.

Grace said: “I oversea all promotion for the festival.”

“I have a passion for music and Darlington as a town.

“It’s a great opportunity to use my skills in marketing to give something back to some of the poorest people across the globe.

” People can expect a great day packed full of fun, bagfuls of talent and the knowledge that they are helping a fantastic cause.”

In a four year period Oxjam Darlo has showcased hundreds of talented local artists and this year is no different with 40 acts involved in the festival.

One such talented artist is Singer, Songwriter Emily Whitfield who has been involved with Oxjam Darlo from its inception.

Emily said: “I’ve always been involved with Oxjam, handing out wristbands etc.”

“I was asked to play after singing at a Soapbox session at the hole in wall Pub.

“I’d always wanted to be part of the event because its for a good cause.”

Emily will be performing at a first time Oxjam venue Prego loft bar located on Darlington’s Grange Road from 7.10pm – 7.45pm.

Seven venues will host Oxjam: Prego, The Tapas Bar, Seen, Avalon, Voodoo, The forum music centre and The Pennyweight.
