STUDENTS SET UP PRESENT DROPOFF FOR THE SALVATION ARMY

Journalism students at Teesside University set up a stand to accept donations of gifts for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal.

The group of students, who are helping out the campaign as part of their course module, pitched a stand in Teesside University’s Student Union on Thursday to collect gifts from both the general public and staff/students at university.

The event, which saw a good flow of donators, was the group’s second present drop off at the student union, the prior taking place the previous Thursday.

The group of seven are helping out The Salvation Army with their campaign by promoting and working active social media pages, creating events and producing journalistic content.

Last year, The Salvation Army in Teesside collected enough presents to help 900 children across the region, and this year, they hope to do just as well.

Naomi Kelly from Southfield Road’s Salvation Army (Middlesbrough Citadel) said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to be supported by this lovely group of students from Teesside uni. Their support is going to make a big difference!”

A video created by the group can be found on the Facebook page set up by the group for the campaign here.
