TWISTERELLA RETURNS TO TEESSIDE – TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE

One of the region’s biggest music festival’s is taking place this weekend.

Twisterella is a multi-venue music festival held annually in Middlesbrough. Launched in 2014, the festival is now in it’s sixth year.

The event takes place over five different venues; Teesside University’s Student Union, The Townhouse, TSOne, and two stages in The Westgarth.  Collectively, the stages will play host to over 40 different acts from across the region. Including huge names such as Vistas and Dylan Cartlidge.

Pop up sessions will also be taking place across smaller venues across the town, including Off The Ground Coffee, Sticky Fingers, and The Twisted Lip.

Komparrison is made up by Boro based girls Kaitlyn and Elise, who described themselves as “the Taylor Swift’s of the North East” – bringing heartfelt tracks to their sets, along with stunning vocals. They will be playing The Twisted Lip at 5PM on Saturday, where the duo filmed the music video for their latest single Remedy. 

Kaitlyn and Elise said: “We were both absolutely buzzing to be asked to play Twisterella this year.”

“It goes to show what an impact it can have on two local lassies as well as everyone else in the Teesside music scene trying to make some success. Twisterella definitely benefit’s the music scene around here.

“The scene is growing and more people are aware of local talent and want to see it live, also there’s big names coming to Boro so that’s a bonus!”

Twisterella is brought to Teesside by independent music promoters The Kids are Solid Gold and Pay for the Piano, who have previously brought huge names to Teesside, including Wolf Alice, Alt-J, Drenge and The 1975.

The aim of the event is to showcase the brightest emerging talent from the North East and beyond.

Komparrison, as a well loved emerging act themselves, said: “we’re really hoping to see Martha Hill, Kay Greyson, as well as headliners, Vistas.” from the girls’ set, Kaitlyn and Elise said to: “just expect a laugh and some upbeat heartbreak songs.”

Along with the main festival, Twisterella hosts the “(Un)Conference”, which invited aspiring musicians to recieve feedback and advice from music industry professionals. Previously including pannellists from BBC Music Introducing, NARC Magazine, Absolute Radio and Deer Shed Festival. This year, it is being held at Middlesbrough Town Hall, and is free to attend.
