GRAPHIC DESIGN SOCIETY HOLD BAKE SALE

Rob and Abby selling cakes to go to the London D&AD Awards

DESIGN students have turned their hands to baking cakes to help finance a trip to a special awards ceremony.

The Teesside University Graphic Design Society held a bake sale to raise money to attend the Design and Advertising (D&AD) New Blood Awards in London.

A stand was set up in the Athena Building where staff and students  were encouraged to buy a tasty treat.

Graphic Design Society President, Abby Streets, said they needed to raise over ÂŁ2,000 to finance the trip as stand at the awards would allow students to sell themselves to future employers.

She said: “To get the stand it’s ÂŁ2106, but we just want to do as much fundraising as we can.”

“The more funding we get, the more we can pass it down to second years and first years so that they can go next year.”

Running the stall on the 1st floor of Teesside University’s Athena building, were members of the Graphic Design Society, including Robert Bedford, who handles the society’s finances.

The stall included a wide variety of lovely baked goods, including a mix of vegan options such as chocolate cookies and brownies.
