Notable events in music history from November 30.

1963 – The Beatles

The fab four’s second album ‘With The Beatles’ became the first one million selling record by a group in the UK. The album ended up topping the charts for 21 weeks, knocking their first album ‘Please Please Me’ off the top spot, meaning The Beatles had held the top spot for 51 consecutive weeks.

1969 – The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones played the final night of their famous North American tour playing at the International Raceway Festival in West Palm Beach, Florida. Other Notable acts who played the festival being; Janis Joplin, Moody Blues, Iron Butterfly and Steppenwolf.

1982 – Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson’s masterpiece ‘Thriller’ album was released. It spent a total of 190 weeks in the UK album charts and also went on to become the biggest selling pop album of all time, selling 66 millions copies to this day. Some notable singles from the album; ‘Billie Jean’, ‘Beat It’, ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin” and ‘The Girl Is Mine’ which featured Paul McCartney.

1994 – 2Pac

Tupac Shakur was shot five times while being robbed outside a recording studio in New York City. Shakur publicly accused friend, Christopher Wallace (Biggie Smalls) of setting him up which let to a vicious rivalry between the pair.

2012 – Rihanna

‘Unapologetic’, Rihanna’s seventh studio album, debuted at No.1 in the UK album chart. From the album, seven singles were released, including the hit ‘Diamonds’ written by Sia. ‘Diamonds’ became Rihanna’s twelfth UK No.1 single, putting her name next to Madonna and The Supremes for fourth most No.1 singles in the history of the chart.
