Super Bowl sell-out at Middlesbrough venue

America’s biggest game is taking place under global lights on Sunday night when the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. After a season that saw record-setting viewing figures, this year’s Super Bowl looks to be one of the biggest in recent memory, especially here. Whether you are a longtime fan of American football or just looking to see what the hype is all about, there are multiple places to get out and watch the big game in Middlesbrough, though you’ll have to be quick as some are already selling out.

The Southfield

The pub on Teesside University campus regularly shows sporting events, both locally and internationally. The Southfield is embodying counterparts over in the States and offering several offers for the NFL finale. Their “tailgate happy hour” is a deal of four pints for £12 throughout the entire night. That’s not all, as Mixr (discount app) users also receive a free drink on Super Bowl night.

Speaking to staff at The Southfield, we found out that last year’s Super Bowl was “hectic” and they are expecting a similar atmosphere again this year. One member of the team, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “Every table is booked. We are filled to our capacity of 208. Every TV will be showing the game, and the speakers will be playing the game.”

Play

If you want a more traditional Super Bowl watch party experience, Play is where to go. With free entry, anyone can get into the alternative bar for the game. Play is boasting 120 screens and a big sound system to completely immerse you in the game. DJs, red cup cocktails and a choice of old Madden video games make this the average NFL fan’s dream night.

Honky Tonks

The Honky Tonks sports bar and grill on Albert Road advertises a Super Bowl night, perfect for country music fans. The self-proclaimed UK number 1 country party bar usually offers live music, their ‘cowboy karaoke’, line dancing and hosting other big, live sporting events. The Super Bowl joins Honky Tonks’ calendar for Sunday night and looks to bring the full American country experience here to Middlesbrough.

Super Bowl Sunday is the perfect event to go out and get together with friends and meet fans of countless other NFL and other American sports teams here in Middlesbrough and these three pubs stand as the venues to offer long time and new fans their biggest night of the year so far.
