Cheltenham Festival fever comes to Sedgefield

With the Cheltenham festival beginning tomorrow, people everywhere are preparing for their racing fixes.

Teessiders are in particular luck as Cheltenham festival week is a good time to attend Sedgefield racecourse.

The venue is one of many venues showing the Cheltenham races with the added bonus of hosting its own seven race card.  All the action from Cheltenham will be shown on a big screen for viewers to watch and place bets. Entry on the day is £25.

A race-goer who wished to remain anonymous told TUXtra “I go to Sedgefield every year with a group of friends. He went on to comment on Sedgefield  having a great atmosphere.

“We used to go to Cheltenham but it’s become a bit awkward to get everyone there. It’s good to have such a lively alternative on our doorstep. You get all the racing from Cheltenham on the big screen anyway, so you don’t miss anything And it doesn’t cost £100 to get in.”

Cheltenham races begin 13:20 and Sedgefield opens its gates midday ready for an action packed day of racing until 17:00.
